Description
At a height of 1,016 feet, the London Shard is the tallest building in western Europe. Its observation deck on the 72nd floor is 800 feet above ground. From there visitors have a magnificent view of the city of London and the Thames River as it winds its way toward the North Sea. If they look up, they will see amid the clouds the very top of the iconic structure, which is not open to the public. Copyright 2014 Ann Horn. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. Many thanks for your generous response, Lois. I always like to go to the top of things. I had gone to the Shard in June of 2012 and was disappointed to find that it would be several weeks before construction was complete. Then when I was in London this past summer, I made the trip to the top of the tallest building in London. It was well worth the wait.

Thank you for your gracious comment, Joyce. I always like to go to the top of everything... so when I was in London last summer, I just had to go up to the observation deck of the Shard and from there took this photo as well as others of the city below.
