Description
The shoreline of Lake Michigan was changed by days and nights of exceedingly low temperature and wind chill readings. Waves and sand combined and froze to form hilly extensions into the lake. Walking where the water had been, people and dogs explore the aftermath. Great Lakes. Saint Joseph, Michigan. Copyright 2019 Ann Horn. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. Many thanks for your kind comment, Constance. You are right about the cold, which was extreme the day we were there.

Thanks for your complimentary comment, Ben. As to your question... I don't think the freezing of water and sand in piles at a lake's edge is particularly unusual, but because it was so very cold for so long, this build-up was especially large.

Many thanks for your gracious response, Maria. I suspect that when a really good thaw comes, the lake will reclaim at least some of this area .
