Visitors to the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory at Belle Isle State Park in Detroit, Michigan were invited to play this vintage upright piano, creatively painted by Detroit artists, Mario Broughton, Tylon Sawyer, and Keri Mortimer. It was recently placed in the lobby of the conservatory by the Detroit Institute of Arts and the non-profit organization, Keys in the Cities, as part of the Forward Arts Painted Piano Project. In public places in numerous other cities people of all ages and levels of musical ability also are being invited to play and listen to pianos decorated with original art.
