Description
Erected in 1857 to replace the original 28 foot tower and keeper’s house built in 1848, the 89 foot Point aux Barques Lighthouse is one of the oldest continuously operating lights of the Great Lakes. Located on the shore of Lake Huron at the tip of Michigan’s thumb, its light shines 12 to 14 miles as an aid to boaters and commercial lake traffic. Copyright 2017 Ann Horn. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
