Description
On the shoreline of Flowerpot Island, located in Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada, are rock formations called sea stacks. Of varying heights, they were formed over many years by the action of wind, rain, waves and ice. The softer rock eroded more quickly, leaving the harder rock standing. Trees grow on top of some of these sea stacks, which then resemble flowerpots. Hence the name, Flowerpot Island, part of Fathom Five National Marine Park. Copyright 2005 Ann Horn.
