Description
3rd place in Lake Superior Lighthouses contest, 10/8/14. In the Upper Peninsula of Michigan the Whitefish Point Lighthouse stands at the entrance to Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay, where Great Lakes freighters find shelter from the fury of northwest winds which build up over 160 miles of open water to create enormous waves. It has shone unfailingly for almost 150 years, except for the stormy night of November 10, 1975, when the 729 foot Edmund Fitzgerald went down. Copyright 2004 Ann Horn. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

Thank you, Chris. This lighthouse is located on the north shore of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Lots of wilderness area there, which i love.
