Description
A plain wooden cross stands in front of the carved altarpiece in Saint Andrews Church, Suffolk, England. The letters IHS form the abbreviation for Jesus, which is found in ancient manuscripts and which frequently is used as a symbolic monogram. In Revelation 22:13 Jesus speaks of himself as the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega (the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet), seen on either side of the cross. Saint Andrews Church serves the parishes of Aldringham and Thorpeness in Suffolk, England. Copyright 2012 Ann Horn. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
